Here’s a quick but interesting post from the Guardian‘s gardening blog. A few years ago I visited a remarkable rooftop garden in London, right above the busy streets of Kensington. (I must remember to share the photos.) I wish roof gardens were more widely implemented in the US, particularly in large cities.

I’m always fascinated by plants of which I’ve never heard, like the blue sausage tree (pictured below) and the toothache tree mentioned in the post.

Can you imagine how irresistible those fruits would be to children? The pulp is edible and apparently sweet, although disgusting to behold. But if I were still a kid (or even now, when no one is looking), I’d simply squish them.
