Remember the Baptisia I thought I had murdered when I dug up its home for the rain garden?

It lives!

For now, at least. But it’s grown a good 12 inches tall in the last week, and that’s 12 inches more than I had counted on. It should get more sun in its new location, and even though I transplanted a fair amount of root ball, I plan to water it this summer as if it were a brand-new plant.

I needed this surprise, this week. When things seem grim and I must seek a bit of affirmation, I can usually rely on the garden…even if I need to part the weeds and squint hard to find it.
