Garden log, 7.2.13

Guess what? More rain today. According to Weather.com, we’ve had 10 inches of rain in the past 7 days.

Even the rubber duck in our pond has had enough. And our mosquitoes have grown to the size of sparrows.

The rain garden (can I bless its heart?) is taking everything Mother Nature throws at it. I can’t believe things haven’t rotted away, but it’s lush and healthy.

Today my Rudbeckia and Crocosmia bloomed for the first time. And lots of fat buds mean more blooms to come.

Hope it’s good gardening weather where you are.

  1. Love the crocosmia picture!
It’s been raining every day here too but so far only the gardener and the monarda look annoyed. Lets hope the mildew doesn’t spread to both of us:)

    • Thank you!
Yes, I hope the mildew remains in check. But if things get out of hand and you need blasting with a good organic fungicide, I have a homemade brew I’ll be glad to share with you. 🙂

  2. I feel for the rubber duck. Your rain garden looks spectacular and I do like your Crocosmia. I’ve tried Crocosmia several times but it’s never made it.
